We are releasing our annual Pink Boots Society one-off brew, Made of Nows:

A Hazy IPA brewed with the 2021 Pink Boots Hop Blend, NYS Locust Honey, and Cara Cara Orange Puree. This beer was brewed at our FLX location and led by Emily Callaghan from our FLX production team with the assistance of all of our female staff from our NYC and FLX locations. Made of Nows will be on draft only. We will be releasing this beer at all three taprooms.

The name, Made of Nows, derives from a poem by Puerto Rican female poet, Julia de Burgos called “I Was My Own Route”:

I wanted to be like men wanted me to be:
an attempt at life;
a game of hide and seek with my being.
But I was made of nows,
and my feet level on the promissory earth
would not accept walking backwards
and went forward, forward,
mocking the ashes to reach the kiss
of new paths.

Teagan Ward‘s words lament perspectives and stories of which each of us can relate regardless of age or circumstance. With her free-spirited attitude combined with her soul-tingling vocals, she would fit well with the likes of Janis or Stevie with lyrics rooted with inspirations from Mitchell and Taylor. Ward, pays homage to these influences by bringing their spirit and sound to this generation.
